IMAGE SOURCES

Earth Shirts feature The Blue Marble, one of the most reproduced images in history. This photograph was taken on December 7, 1972, by either Ron Evans or Harrison Schmitt (they can’t remember who clicked the shutter) aboard the Apollo 17 spacecraft on its way to the Moon. This is the second image of the earth taken by a human, the first being the 1968 image Earthrise taken by William Anders of Apollo 8. It is also the last image of Earth to be taken by a human; no human since has been far enough from Earth to photograph a whole-Earth image.

Flower shirts feature a classic daisy extracted from the 1901 book, Art Crafts for Amateurs by Fred Miller, decorative artist, now in the public domain.“Try and do something on your own, and to keep your soul sweet, never cease going to the fountainhead, Nature, for she after all is the source of all inspiration. You can exhaust everything but her.”

Peace shirts feature the classic peace symbol, designed in 1958 by British designer Gerald Holtom. Holtom, who had been a conscientious objector during the Second World War, combined the semaphore symbols for the letters “N” and “D,” to stand for “Nuclear Disarmament.” The symbol debuted in 1958 on signage and buttons at a protest led by the Direct Action Committee Against Nuclear War, and lives on today to stand more generally for peace and hope.

ABOUT
Tees are printed with water-based ink on 100% cotton Comfort Colors garment-dyed shirts. After a wash-and-dry the ink will be just as soft as the tee itself. Printed by Magic Circle World and Forthrite in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Shipping is a slow process, please email to let me know if you have a deadline. I cannot guarantee arrival before the holidays, but I can tell you I’ll do my final shipping on December 17.
